BVV Trade Fairs Brno together with the Czech-Moravian Breeders' Society decided to move the National Show of Livestock from April to a later date. This step has been taken as a measure to protect the livestock on display and to prevent the risks associated with foot-and-mouth disease (FMD). In the event of a favourable development and stabilisation of the disease situation, the exhibition will be held simultaneously with the ANIMAL TECH fair and the National Gamekeeping Show on the tentative alternative date of 14-17 September 2025.
The complex of fairs was originally scheduled to take place at the end of April, but following a meeting of the exhibition committee with representatives of breeding organisations, after consultation with experts and taking into account the emergency measures issued by the State Veterinary Administration, it was decided to postpone it until autumn. This is mainly due to the desire to eliminate the risks associated with the potential occurrence of a disease that could threaten the health of the animals on display and the health of entire farms. Ensuring the safety of the animals is a priority for the organisers and the move to a new date will minimise the risks and ensure the smooth running of the show.
"The National Livestock Show and related events are important events for the entire industry. Our priority is the health and safety of animals, which is why we have decided to move the date to a later period when conditions will be more stable," said Josef Kučera, Executive Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Czech-Moravian Breeders' Society.
"We try to approach the situation with the utmost professionalism and responsibility. Our priority is to ensure the safety of the animals on display and the protection of the breeding stock, which represents top genetic material. Therefore, we carefully assess all risks and do everything possible to ensure that the event takes place in the best possible conditions. We believe that in the autumn the circumstances will be favourable and the whole exhibition complex will be able to take place," said Jan Kubata, CEO of BVV Trade Fairs Brno.
The long-term goal is to hold the event in conditions ensuring maximum safety and at the same time to provide an ideal platform for breeders and the professional public to meet and exchange experiences.
