Gallerist Barbara Lange

Brno Patchwork Meeting 2025 will welcome the renowned gallerist, artist, and curator Barbara Lange, whose name is inseparable from the international world of patchwork and textile art. Barbara Lange, who resides in Freising, Germany, has been a long-time member of the Patchwork Guild of Germany and has significantly influenced the patchwork scene not only in Germany but across the globe in recent years.

Barbara Lange currently serves as a member of the Quilt National Committee (since January 2022) and as the web editor of the Patchwork Guild of Germany (since October 2021). She is also dedicated to training other patchwork teachers and has been the curator of the Patchwork Guild of Germany's collection of patchwork works since 2015.

In the past, she held the position of president of the Patchwork Guild of Germany, where she served from 2014 to 2021. She is also a member of the prestigious Studio Art Quilt Association (SAQA), and her works have been exhibited at numerous significant international exhibitions. As a curator and co-curator, she has contributed to projects in Germany, France, South Korea, and in cooperation with the International Conference on Radiation Protection in Geneva, she co-curated the "Radiation" exhibition.

Major Exhibitions and Solo Projects

Barbara Lange has an extensive exhibition history. Her solo projects span not only Europe but also Asia and the Americas. In 2025, she plans a solo exhibition at the Prague Patchwork Meeting, which will be another in a series of her significant European projects. Additionally, in 2024, she became an artist-in-residence in Shaoxing, China, where she spent three months creating and exhibiting her works.

Her work has been showcased at events such as the Patchwork Festival in China, the Quilt Festival in South Korea, and major European events like the European Patchwork Meeting in France. In addition to her exhibition activities, she regularly participates in international competitions and has received numerous awards for her work.

Barbara Lange as a Teacher and Juror

Barbara Lange has vast experience in teaching and sharing her knowledge. She has led workshops in countries such as Russia, China, South Korea, Kazakhstan, the Czech Republic, the USA, and the UK. As a juror, she has served at exhibitions in Germany, the Czech Republic, Russia, China, and France, where she has judged works from artists around the world.
