Design Centrum CzechTrade awarded the first Industrial Design Awards

Design Centrum CzechTrade, the national platform for state support of design and guarantor for the design sector, announced the first ever Industrial Design Award at the International Industrial Fair in Brno. The award ceremony took place on 9 October 2024 in the unique SONO music club.
The evaluation jury was composed of experts representing academia and professionals from the field of industrial design. The committee was chaired by Zuzana Sedmerová, Head of the Design Centrum CzechTrade section. The jury finally decided as follows:
1st place went to PRUSA RESEARCH

The prize was awarded for the visual design of a new type of printer. The basic composition gives a balanced impression, the geometry of the triangle is also embedded into the outer box. The author of the design is Vít Fendrych. |
2nd place went to PEGAS - GONDA s.r.o.
Winning exhibit: | 540 HORIZONT X two-column band saw |
The prize was awarded for a new type of double-column band saw for metal, which impressed with its composition with a dominant diagonal segmentation of the arm cover. This feature effectively balances the structural complexity of the machine. The author of the design is Ing. Josef Gonda. |
3rd place went to JC - METAL s.r.o.
Winning exhibit: | Sets of clamps and fasteners |
The prize was awarded for visually unified sets of quick clamps and fasteners. The products have the potential to attract customers thanks to their distinctive colour and shape accents. The author of the design is Jan Cetl. |
The winning companies received a certificate and the right to use the Industrial Design Award winner's name in their own communication and marketing materials. The jury assessed the functionality of the exhibits, their aesthetics, ergonomics, sustainability and ecological impact, originality, safety and economic efficiency. Design Centrum CzechTrade is a member of The Bureau of European Design Associations (BEDA), which enables Czech companies to obtain the latest information on design theory and practice.
