The trends of decarbonisation, reducing energy consumption and carbon footprint concern all business sectors, including the trade fair business. Therefore, the domestic leader in the modern energy sector is joining hands with the largest trade fair organiser in Central Europe, BVV Trade Fairs Brno (BVV). ČEZ ESCO wants to help the Brno fairgrounds with complex decarbonisation and energy saving projects in the future.

"Domestic and foreign exhibitors are placing increasing importance on sustainability and reducing their carbon footprint. As a leader in the trade fair business in the Czech Republic, we want to set an example and gradually adapt our extensive exhibition space to 21st century energy trends. In addition to considerable financial savings, this also means a reduction in the carbon footprint of our buildings, halls and offices," says Jan Kubata, CEO of BVV Trade Fairs Brno.

BVV has recently introduced a number of environmental protection measures. Among other things, the company operates its own recycling centre enabling the reuse of exhibition material. A new waste management centre was also built last year. The company's first electric car has been added to the fleet, which provides delivery of materials and exhibition equipment within the premises. There is also an electric vehicle charging station at the main entrance to the BVV site. Thanks to the strategic partnership with ČEZ ESCO, BVV gains additional key know-how to the ongoing cooperation with Teplárny Brno, which addresses energy issues within the group of city companies.

The great interest of exhibition and congress venues in energy savings is also demonstrated by ČEZ ESCO's cooperation with the Prague Congress Centre, which has reduced energy costs by CZK 244 million since 2016. In the last twelve months alone, the savings amount to CZK 35 million. Thanks to the large-scale EPC project, greenhouse gas emissions have fallen by 83,000 tonnes, which is an important indicator for companies renting the largest conference building in the Czech Republic.

"We are very pleased to be able to establish cooperation with BVV and to offer our long-standing experience to the biggest player in the Czech trade fair business in the future. BVV is located in newer buildings as well as in historical buildings with a history dating back to the time of the First Republic. Our EPC projects in the Rudolfinum or the National Theatre have shown that we can also energy modernise even older buildings and that we can deal with similar challenges very well. There may also be potential in the development of renewable energy sources at the Brno Exhibition Centre. At ČEZ ESCO, we are ready to discuss any decarbonization measures with BVV and help with their implementation," explains Kamil Čermák, CEO of ČEZ ESCO.

BVV Trade Fairs Brno is the largest trade fair company in Central Europe, and approximately 100 events are held at the Brno Exhibition Centre each year, attended by around 700,000 visitors. The most important annual event is the International Engineering Fair. The IDET defence and security technology fair and the TECHAGRO agricultural technology fair have also built up a significant reputation worldwide. More at www.bvv.cz
