Silk garden blossomed at the exhibition center — for just three days

It is a competition exhibition of quilts, organized by BVV together with this year’s event partner, Hedva Český Brokát Rýmařov. The company not only provided the competing artists with unique floral brocades and other materials but also prepared prizes for the top three winners.

A total of 62 artists from various countries took part in the Silk Garden competition. The quilts, each measuring 40 x 70 cm, predominantly featured floral motifs and vases.

"This year, the project became international. It’s fantastic that artists from abroad also participated," said Brno Patchwork Meeting director Martin Škarka, who presented the awards on Saturday together with Miroslava Sochorová from Hedva Český Brokát Rýmařov.
"We are very happy to have taken part in this project. We look forward to future editions. What we have seen here is simply amazing," Sochorová added in her evaluation of the competition.

And what were the final results? The first two places went to Israel, while third place was claimed by an artist from Germany.

Although the Silk Garden collection in Brno blossomed for just three days, organizers will continue to showcase it for the next three years — it will be a traveling exhibition.
