Mitsubishi Materials: Next generation technology in carbide substrates, advanced geometries and state-of-the-art coatings

August 16, 2024  /  10:36 AM

Mitsubishi Materials will have a strong presence at the 65th International Industrial Fair with a large booth in Pavilion F, on stand 056.

Here visitors will find the latest generation, high tech tooling. Additionally, we welcome visitors to ask questions, without any obligation, to Mitsubishi’s friendly and experienced local and international experienced sales and technical engineering team about ideas and solutions to metal cutting problems.

On display will be cutting tools and bodies highlighting next generation technology in carbide substrates, advanced geometries and state-of-the-art coatings. The new and innovative MV1000 milling grades will be a highlight of the display. These new grades  have adopted the recently developed AL-Rich coating method. This advanced CVD coating of aluminium titanium nitride (Al,Ti)N is a compound of aluminium and titanium that is ideal for advanced cutting tools because of its extremely hard and heat-resistant properties. Also in the automotive transmission sector, other coated grades such as MC6135 for tough applications and CBN inserts for hardened steel machining can be viewed by visitors alongside actual components that have been machined using Mitsubishi tools.

Other industrial sectors, Aerospace and Medical will also have a strong emphasis on up to date cutting tools and actual machined components. The aerospace section will demonstrate real examples that visitors can relate to in their industry. The ASPX multi-insert shell milling cutter for high efficiency machining of titanium alloys features alongside the solid carbide VQ and iMX exchangeable head end mills. Combining these tools enables a vast range of components to be efficiently machined.

A comprehensive range of solid carbide and indexable insert drills will also be shown. The super versatile MPS1 series of drills for a wide range of materials from steels through stainless steels and cast iron are also available in incredible super long lengths up to 40 x D, and all are through coolant capable. To compliment this extensive MPS1 series, specialised drills for small diameters, the DVAS series can also be used up to 50 x D, also with through coolant despite the small diameters from Ø1.0 mm to Ø2.9 mm. Drills specifically for aluminium the MNS type, and the MMS solid carbide drills for stainless steels ensure every application is covered.
