Every year, the Czech Footwear and Leather Association motivates young designers to enter their designs for footwear and accessories in the prestigious Jan Pivečka Foundation Award competition. The award ceremony will take place again at the STYL and KABO trade fair and we are looking forward to seeing the winning models selected by the jury at the end of June!
Not an easy task for the jury
The evaluation of the students' entries took place at the headquarters of the Czech Footwear and Leather Association in Zlín on 28 June. An independent expert jury selected the best of the entered works, but it was not easy this time. The young designers created really creative and very well crafted shoes and handbags!
Three famed schools
Are you wondering which high schools, colleges or universities are participating in the competition? This year, students from the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, students from the Tomáš Baťa University in Zlín and the High School of Applied Arts from Uherské Hradiště also sent their models to Zlín.
Three competition categories
There were three creative categories, each of which highlighted something a little different. The FUNNY SHOE category appealed to first-year high school students (up to and including the age of 17), the YOUNG SPIRIT category was intended for young designers, high school students, and the PROFESSIONAL VIEW category targeted students of universities and higher vocational schools and young professional designers up to the age of 30. You can congratulate the winners of each category in person on 23 August at STYL KABO, where you will also see the winning models!
