February 5, 2025 / 7:30 AM
The IDET International Defence and Security Technologies Fair will take place at the Brno Exhibition Centre from 28 to 30 May 2025, after a two-year interval. Alongside the PYROS and ISET trade fairs, it will showcase the latest advancements in security technology to professionals from around the globe.
"For over 30 years, IDET has been a popular venue for presenting innovations, establishing industrial cooperation and negotiating and finalising major contracts. It fulfils all these roles even in the current challenging security situation, when record investments are directed into the defence industry and the whole sector is the focus of extraordinary attention," said Jan Kubata, CEO of BVV Trade Fairs Brno.
"We have already registered more exhibitors than during the previous record-breaking edition two years ago, and approximately one third of those interested in IDET are newcomers or companies returning to the fair after a long time. As the entire defence and security sector is now investing massively in research and development, we can look forward to a lot of interesting innovations in May," added Michalis Busios, Director of International Security Fairs.
Global brands and start-ups under one roof
Returning exhibitors include Germany's Rheinmetall, which was last presented in Brno in 2021, and this year will be showcasing its products on an area of 350 sqm. Overall, the participation from Germany will be stronger, with 15 companies already registered, including KNDS Group. The joint stand of Indian companies on an area of 150 sqm is also worth mentioning.
The Czech defence and security industry, headed by the Defence and Security Industry Association of the Czech Republic, will also be extensively represented. Traditional exhibitors include companies such as Agados, Czechoslovak Group, Česká Zbrojovka, EVPÚ Defence, LOM Praha, STV Group, SAAB, Svos, Trade Fides and VOP. The Military Research Institute and the Brno University of Technology will also feature their displays here. New to the event this year will be the ContSystem company, which represents foreign manufacturers of special vehicles and means for handling heavy equipment.
Innovative companies from the fields of defence, security, aviation and aerospace will also be featured, with the aim of showcasing the potential of emerging companies and connecting them with larger partners.
New topics: Space Defence and 3D technology
With the development of new technologies, global security is becoming increasingly interconnected with space security, and this year's IDET will focus on the security and defence aspects of activities in space and the use of space as an operational domain. The fair will also include the Space Defence & StartUp Hall, a platform to showcase the latest products and technologies from innovative companies in the field of space security.
The development of additive manufacturing, also known as 3D printing, has opened up entirely new design possibilities for the industry, and this year the highlighted theme of 3D technology will demonstrate for the first time how effectively the defence industry is using these innovations.
Cybersecurity, a perennial highlight of IDET, will be a prominent topic, along with the pressing issue of safeguarding sensitive information and critical infrastructure in the digital age.
The trade fair will once again feature a specialist extra programme and the Gold IDET Awards for the best exhibits.

The Army will celebrate 80 years since the end of World War II
The IDET fair is once again organised in close collaboration with the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic, reflecting the Ministry's current investment plans. In conjunction with the army of the Czech Republic, the Ministry is also preparing the largest trade fair exposition, which carries the motto "80 years since the end of World War II". One of the objectives of the army's presentation at IDET will be recruitment of novices, which will be the focus of the three specialist days as well as the follow-up Security Day for the broad public on Saturday 31 May.
Concurrently with PYROS and ISET
In the same period, the Brno Exhibition Centre will also host the industry-related PYROS International Fire Fighting Equipment and Services Fair, and ISET International Security Technology and Services Fair. This combination enables all components of the integrated rescue system to be presented in one place, and the combination is also advantageous for exhibitors who can offer their products and services simultaneously to the army, firefighters, police and other armed forces. The Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic, the Police of the Czech Republic, the Customs Administration of the Czech Republic, the Administration of State Material Reserves of the Czech Republic, the Prison Service of the Czech Republic and the Brno Municipal Police are also preparing their presentations.
The company New Space Technologies will be participating for the first time at PYROS, where it will officially present its revolutionary KALAN amphibious vehicle on an area of 120 sqm.
The Brno Exhibition Centre offers a unique opportunity to present heavy equipment in action, which is highly appreciated by exhibitors and visitors alike. This year, therefore, the IDET ARENA off-road polygon with dynamic demonstrations of military, firefighting and police equipment or simulated intervention actions of various units will not be missing.
Looking back at the record-breaking year 2023
551 exhibiting companies from 29 countries presented themselves at the Brno Exhibition Centre in May 2023; 65 percent of them came from abroad. Based on an invitation from the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic, the Army of the Czech Republic and BVV Trade Fairs Brno, the fair was visited by members of official delegations from the territories of interest and representatives of foreign armies from 35 countries. A total of 31 thousand professional visitors from 41 countries saw the exhibitors' offer over three days. The following Saturday's Security Day welcomed another 14 thousand visitors – mostly people interested in military equipment, and the general public.
