KALAN - a new generation of special equipment for crisis situations

KALAN is an amphibious tracked vehicle with exceptional terrain clearance and full usability on water, which was developed in close cooperation with the Fire Rescue Corps of the Czech Republic. It is designed with the needs of rescue services facing the greatest challenges in the form of floods, natural disasters and logistic operations in evacuations, moving rescue teams and equipment and transporting necessary material and equipment in extreme conditions in mind.

Main use of the KALAN vehicle

• Operational and efficient evacuation of the population (up to 80 people) during floods and other natural disasters or crisis situations;
• Transportation of rescue forces, material and equipment to hard to reach areas (payload up to 13 tonnes);
• Logistical support and cargo transport in extreme conditions.
• Emergency vehicle for fire fighting and other interventions, e.g. fire fighting from a carried tank or even with direct pumping of water from watercourses and areas, pumping out flooded areas and areas and other interventions to which it can be adapted;

• Amphibious - Full deployment and use on land and in water
• Handling and Manoeuvrability - Advanced integration and interfacing of vehicle/vessel propulsion and control systems with a control system with an intelligent and robust architecture.
• High ground clearance - Taking full advantage of the tracked chassis.
• Carrying capacity and capability - Amphibious transporter for evacuation of endangered people, injured persons or emergency response units, rescue teams or medical personnel or transport of cargo, humanitarian aid, medical equipment and material as well as containers, ground vehicles, fire fighting equipment including tanks and other special equipment e.g. for large capacity pumping of flooded areas.
• Modularity - The platform is the basis for a range of multi-purpose or special purpose vehicles, adapted to a specific purpose, including extended equipment and fittings. Depending on the requirements and needs of the specific deployment and the missions required, the vehicle can be equipped with, for example, winches and floor rollers, anchors for loading cargo, containers and equipment, evacuation equipment including handrails, benches or beds and roofing, or even firefighting equipment including a water and foam tank (up to 8000 litres of water).
  The possibilities of adapting the vehicle and its equipment are not limited and are only governed by the requirements of the users.
• Safety - The robust construction of the vehicle and the modern design of its systems provide the required high level of safety and protection for the crew and the people or cargo being transported.
