Czech quilts triumphed in both the Creative and Classical competitions!

The gallery of Hall A was filled with dozens of textile artworks and quilts entered into two prestigious competitions held as part of the 17th International Creative and Textile Exhibition, Brno Patchwork Meeting. An expert international jury, composed of foreign gallerists, lecturers, and certified judges, selected and awarded the top six pieces in each competition — both creative and clasiccal.

The clasiccal competition had the theme Four Patch, with a clear guideline: the quilt blocks had to visibly feature the Four Patch scheme as the main pattern of the quilt top. The jury evaluated 21 anonymously submitted quilts and awarded six of them.

The same evaluation process was used for thecreative competition, whose theme this year was In Circle. It challenged participants to interpret the theme from various perspectives, using any textile technique. In this competition, six works out of 24 entries were awarded.

The international expert jury consisted of 12 members who came from Germany, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Poland, Israel, and, for the first time, also from Brazil.
Among them are renowned names such as Heike Rosenbaum, Ada Honders, Agata Jablońska-Smolińska, Cordula Ermler, Gabriele Schultz-Herzberger, Heike Dressler, Heike Heidberg-Költgen, Shoshi Rimer, Estela Mota, Barbara Lange, Bella Kaplan, and Maryte Collard.

Two first prizes went to local artists.

In both competitions, the winners were primarily artists from the Czech Republic. In the creative competition, artists from Italy and Poland also ranked among the top six. The award ceremony took place on Saturday afternoon on the main program stage, where all prize-winners received valuable prizes from the competition partners: STRIMA CZECH, ŠICÍ CENTRUM HAIŠMAN, Brother Sewing Technology, and RAGOS.
