As long as I can remember I tried out various crafty and artistic techniques. However, when I picked a profession, my love of languages prevailed. When I studied English literature in the USA, I discovered quiltmaking. I was immediately hooked, but it took a long time until I had the time to start a quilt of my own.

As soon as my personal and professional situation allowed, I took classes with local and international quilters. I was able to take a three year course with the German patchwork guild to become a teacher myself. I assume that the greatest influence on my work were the teachings of Nancy Crow whose workshops in Switzerland I attended several times.

For many years I have been teaching at festivals or to groups all over Europe (France, Austria, Great Britain, Czech Republic). In the years 2017 to 2020 I was responsible for organizing the training program of the Patchwork Gilde Deutschland e.V.

My quilts have been in shows not only in Germany, but worldwide, in more than 50 juried and non-juried exhibitions. I was part of the Patchworkgilde Gilde Deutschland e.V. juried triennial exhibitions „Tradition bis Moderne“ in the years 2014, 2017, 2020, and 2023. In 2014 and 2018 I was awarded the annual craft prize by my local community.

The present exhibit has the subtitle “Year of the Dragon”. At the very beginning of this period I embarked on a trip to Southeast Asia, to Vietnam and Bali. Several quilts shown in the coming exhibit were motivated by this trip. One example is “Hanoi” where I was inspired by the alleyways, small passages between houses and the general colorfulness. Although some quilts were started before the trip, almost all were completed during the Year of the Dragon.
